“The Los Angeles Times recently highlighted the newest addition to the Peninsula Hotels group, which has started taking reservations for its latest luxury property in Shanghai, set to open on October 19th on the iconic Bund waterfront. Known for its exclusive collection of luxury hotels in just eight cities, including Hong Kong and Beverly Hills, the Peninsula Hotels group is expanding its footprint with this ninth location.
The new 235-room hotel offers a range of accommodations, with nightly rates starting at around $470 for a superior room and reaching up to $12,430 for the expansive 4,305-square-foot Peninsula Suite. According to Paul Tchen, the general manager, the hotel will combine modern, high-tech amenities—such as in-room fax/copiers and unlimited VOIP calls—borrowed from the Peninsula Tokyo, with classic elements like Art Deco design and traditional Sunday tea dances in the lobby.”
