“An auction featuring around 5,000 items from La Mamounia, the legendary Marrakesh hotel, recently generated significant interest, raising three million euros (4.2 million dollars) ahead of the hotel’s reopening in September. The four-day event, held at the Marrakesh convention center, attracted large crowds from both Morocco and abroad. The items up for auction included a variety of art deco and oriental furniture and fittings, all of which drew considerable attention.
La Mamounia, which first opened in 1922 in a former Moroccan prince’s residence, is undergoing a complete renovation. Over the years, this five-star hotel has hosted numerous entertainers and politicians, including Josephine Baker, Edith Piaf, Orson Welles, and several U.S. presidents.”
